: something or someplace that provides refreshing relief.

To me, creating an artwork is always a bit of a leap of faith. I start with an idea of what it may end up looking like but the journey to the finished piece often comes with unknown challenges. I wanted this collection of paintings to be a sort of visual to the feeling of walking through a desert like season of life and then finding a lush, peaceful oasis in the midst. 

I started this piece by using layers of transparent oil paint, building slowly to add more texture. Some areas have negative space to show through the initial layers and the story of how the painting was made.
